Location: Set on a beach side location, some 5 hours from the airport in the South of the island, 20 mins from the historic town of Galle.
Accommodation: 71 air-conditioned rooms, simply furnished with twin beds, ceiling fan & shower. All area sea facing and have balcony or patio. Standard rooms are set in the main building. Chalet Bunglows are set in garden bunglows and also have TV.
Facilities: Restaurant, bar, swimming pool with sun terraces and pool side snack bar, night club, mini golf and volley ball. Ayurveda and health centre. The hotel has an extensive entertaintment / animation programme during the day both indoor and outdoor, for adults and children. Evening entertainment includes folk dancing, live music and theme nights. the coral reef in front of the hotel forms delightful natural pools ideal for swimming and a favoured fishing spot for the stilt fisherman.
Opinion: Club Horizon offers imple accomodation and a friendly and informal atmosphere. A good base from where to explore the south and the historic town of Galle.

Confifi Beach - 2 **
Location:Set in attractive gardens leading on to the beach near the village of Beruwala, 3 hours south of the airport. The Confifi provides simple accommodation and is popular with visitors for its friendly, informal atmosphere and peaceful setting.
Accommodation:70 simply furnished rooms with twin beds, ceiling fan and shower. All rooms have a balcony and terrace.
Facilities:Restaurant and lounge bar, swimming pool with pool side bar where snacks are available during the day. A well-equipped Ayurveda centre with qualified staff is available at extra cost. In season, (Nov-Apr) occasional entertainment includes folk dancing and live music. The hotel provides a shuttle bus service to the Confifi Marina for watersports available in season at extra cost.
Opinion:The Confifi provides simple accommodation and is popular with visitors for its friendly, infoormal atmosphere and peaceful setting.
3. GOLDI SANDS - 2** +
Location:Situated by the beach on the outskirts of Negombo, 30 mins. transfer from the airport.
Accommodation:The 75 simply furnished rooms have twin beds, air conditioned, (between 5pm and 8.30 am) with a ceiling fan, telephone, shower and w.c. balcony or terrace with a sea view.
Facilities:Swimming pool with childrens's section, an open-plan restaurant serving buffet-style meals, two bars, two souvenir shops and a 24 hr. reception with safe deposit boxes. Regular theme nights and weekly barbecues with entertainment.
Opinion:Family
run with a friendly, relaxing atmosphere.
4. HIKKADUWA BEACH HOTEL - 2 **
Diving is normally during November to mid April and there are a few PADI dive centres.

Location/Our view: A long established budget hotel with a late 70’s feel to it. It offers excellent value for money for this basic type high rise hote, by Sri Lanka’s standards. It does have a lift too.
Facilities: Pool, restaurant/bar serving local and international dishes, buffet and A la carte, sun terrace by pool. TV lobby, PADI dive site next door.
Acommodation: Basically furnished Twin with ensuite WC and shower, fan, balcony and most rooms have sea view. Cost of fridge, payable locally, about £1 per night. Air conditioning costs £4 per person per night based on twin share.
Extras included: Christmas Eve and New Years Eve gala dinners.
Facilities near hotel: Shops/restaurants/bars and other hotels.
5. SEA GARDEN - 2**
Location:
Situated
on the beach at Negombo, close to the Blue Oceanic, with a variety
of
shops,
bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel is run by a large group which also
own the Blue Oceanic. 40 mins. transfer from the airport.
Accommodation: The 30 rooms have twin bed, ceiling fan, shower and w.c.
Facilities: The hotel has a small bar and restaurant. Guests can also use the facilities at the Blue Oceanic such as swimming, squash, tennis courts and (the Ayurvedic Natural health centre -to be paid locally).
Opinion: It offers little more than basic accommodation ideal for the budget conscious. Local fishermen operate from the beach by the hotel which can result in occasional noise.
6. SUNFLOWER HOTEL - 2**
Location:Set by the beach in Negombo and approx. 30 min from the airport and a few minutes walk to the shops and bars and restaurants nearby.
Accommodation:The 56 simply furnished fan-cooled bedroom with a double or twin beds, shower and w.c. a small balcony or terrace with a sea view. Some rooms are airconditioned (supplement payable).
Facilities:Freshwater swimming pool, bar and restaurant.
Opinion:A simple, unpretentious hotel, ideal for the budget conscious.

Location/Our view: A functional good Three Star property, run by the Bejaya Group. Access to the beach across the railway line. A railway line runs by the beach (normally no trains run at night, but they do start early in the morning).

2. CLUB PALM GARDEN - 3 ***
Location: Set beside the hotel Riverina, in well kept gardens leading on to the golden sands of Beruwala beach some 3 hours south of the airport.
Accommodation: 140 attractively furnished rooms wwith air-conditioning, twin beds telephone, shower and balcony or terrace.

a comprehensive entertaintment programme, which includes free daytime tennins,

Regular evening entertainment includes shows, folkloric and Sri Lankan
nights and occasionally live bands. The Cyber Den, available at a charge,
for a browse on the 'net. Set in the grounds between Riverina and Palm

Suitable

Location/Our view: This is probably the best hotel in Hikkaduwa and run by a large Sri Lankan chain. It has reasonably large gardens and also has lift access to its rooms.
Facilities: Large pool, air conditioned restaurant/bar serving local and international dishes, bufet and a la carte, diving.
Acommodation: air conditioned Twin/double with ensuite WC and shoer, balcony/patio and most rooms are sea facing.

Opinion:The newly renovated club style hotel is geared to those wanting an activites based holiday.

4. MERMAID HOTEL & CLUB - 3*** From £519- All inclusive:

Location/Our view: This property has undergone a refurbishment programme hence upgrading its facilites, opened in August ’99. It has large pretty gardens, friendly staff and offers you the option to relax or play. Hence there will be lots of planned activities.
Facilites: A club with its own pool for sports and activities. Steam bath, sauna massage and ayurvedic centre (supps payable for massage and aromthrapy). The second main pool will be for relaxing only. Tennis, volley ball, badminton, table tennis, darts, archery, water polo, 4 bars (1 air conditioned), restaurant, lounge, regular entertainment.
Acommodation: air conditioned Twin/double bedded rooms with ensuite bath or shower, WC, terrace or balcony, most with pool/sea view, fan, hair dryer, telephone.

6. SEASHELLS - 3***
Location: Some 3 miles from Negombo,and approx.30 min from the airport. Seashells is well situated right on the palm-fringed beach.There is a selection of shops and restaurants near by.

Location: Set in gardens leading to the beach in Beruwala some 3 and a half hrs in the airport.
Accommodation: 102 simple furnished rooms with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, double of twin beds, phone, and bathroom with shower w.c., balcony or patio. Most are sea facing.
Facilities: Restaurant, bar, tennis court and swimming pool with sun terraces and shop. There is also billiards, badminton, table tennis and evening entertainment.
Opinion: This well-established hotel offers a simple standard of accommodation and facilities on a beach side location. Single room suppl't: £18 per night. Child Reduction 50%

new hotel offers an excellent standard of accommodation and facilities
in a peaceful beach side location not too far from Colombo and the airport.

Accommodation: All 158 rooms are attractively furnished. Standard rooms have a double or twin beds, air-conditioning, telephone, TV, piped music, mini bar, safe, shower and balcony. Deuxe rooms are on the ground floor and have sitting area, butler service, hair-dryers, bath, shower and terrace.

Opinion:Providing good all-round standards. A perfect base from where to explore the cultural triangle.

Opinion:This well-established hotel offers good facilities on the beach.

Location:Set in the midst of its own landscaped gardens adjoining the Tangerine Beach and lying on the sandy shores of Kalutara beach. The hotel is about 2 miles outside Kalutara itself. Providing good standards of accommodation and a range of facilities right beside a fine stretch of coastline

Opinion:Providing good standards of accommodation and a range of facilities right beside a fine sketch of coastline.
