Avantika Resort is a new hotel just completed. Situated in a quiet area of Calangute approximately 10 minutes walk to the beach. Ideal for singles and couple who want a simple base a quiet location, away from the bustle of the resort centre.
Opinion: As a new hotel, the Don Hill is clearly in its prime, with comfortable rooms and good quality furnishings.  And since it's family run, customers find the service friendly and attentive.  On site facilities consist of a restaurant with a bar.  If you want an alternative to a swim in the sea then you can use the pool at the neighbouring.  Aldeia Santa Rita for a freshwater swim.

Opinion: Modest hotel with friendly atmosphere. his lovely hotel was completed in April 1998 and has established itself as a firm favourite with British visitors.  There are several other new hotels near the Renton Manor, which is otherwise backed by paddy fields.  The hotel has been built in a Portuguese style overlooking the swimming pool and sunbathing area. The coconut trees give the whole area a peaceful and calm atmosphere.  The hotel has a healthclub and a lovely restaurant.  The Renton Manor has also introduced a new air conditioned pub called 'The Cellar' that has established itself as a bit of a local nightspot.  A number of small local restaurants are also within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Location: The Seaview Cottages were the first accommodation to be built on Baga Beach, by Father Mario Pires 30 years ago. The hotel is on the sand dunes near the beach, which is less than 200 yards away.

Facilities: The beach shacks, shops and restaurants of Baga Beach are within view of the hotel’s lovely little restaurant.

Accommodation: The new block,( has no lift ) was completed in February 2002. The rooms all have en-suite shower, WC, balcony or terrace overlooking the pool.

22. SURFSIDE -SEASIDE RENDEZVOUS - 2 ** Candolim Beach , North Goa

Thomas and his wife, Elaine, run the Seaside Rendezvous and Surfside Hotel. The hotels are opposite each other and share the same swimming pool and reception. Located in a superb position just 150 metres from the beach, you are almost on the sand. This part of Candolim Beach is beautifully quiet and great for a relaxing holiday. Small bars and restaurants can also be found on the doorstep. Just around the corner, the lane up to the main Candolim Road also has many small shacks and shops selling all kinds of trinkets, materials and souvenirs from all over India.

The hotel's Thai restaurant, is set in lovely gardens and the Peacock pub within the Seaside Rendezvous' grounds is a great place to continue socialising after dinner. As the small pool is used by both hotels it can get rather busy, these properties are practically right on the beach. The poolside bar serves snacks in the garden containing coconut palms and the atmosphere is relaxing.

Location: The Ronil was built 15 years ago in conjunction with the first ever charter flight programme from the U.K. to Goa. Ronil Resort is about 500 yards away from Baga Beach and  the many bars and restaurants, for which Baga has become famous, are just a stone throw away!

Accommodation: Bedrooms are comfortable twins or doubles with en-suite shower & WC, ceiling fan, air-conditioning and TV. All rooms have balcony or terrace and are based on Bed & Continental Breakfast.

Facilities: This popular hotel is a superb property. Its main features are the main swimming pool area and 'Golden Net' restaurant which specialises in Seafood. The hotel has a nightly band, which keeps the diners entertained between 7.30 and 10.30 pm. The hotel has an air-conditioned bar and reception area, which operates between 7pm and 1am.
The hotel also has a new block at the back with its own pool.

Opinion: A good value friendly hotel on a beach side location.

14. SILENT RETREAT  -  3***    B & B - Calangute

The band new Silent Retreat is located close to Calangute Beach, along the main Calangute Road. The hotel opened in 1998 and is sister hotel of the Silent Resort which is built the same style, with two blocks surroundings the central swimming pool area, a sunbathing area and coconut trees. Calangute Centre, with all its bars and shops, is only 200 meters away.

Location:900 metres from the beach,50 metres from the resort centre,70 metres from the nearest supermarket,90 metres from the airport.

Accommodation: Twin room (up to 3 sharing), en-suite shower and WC, ceiling fan air conditioning (subject to availability, payable locally) and fridge.

Facilities: Swimming pool, Restaurant/bar serving breakfast, snacks, Evening entertainment.

In a beautiful and relaxing loation, the Sun Village offers a great range of faciliteis, spacious rooms and high standards.  The hotel has nightly entertainment and a superb range of restaurants to cater for every taste.

Location:Set on the hillside overlooking the Arpora Salt Pans, 1.2 kms from Baga beach, accessable by a free hourly shuttle bus 9 -  05.30 pm.- Transfer 1 hour 40 mins.

Facilities: Swimming pool.  Small sun terrace area. Two Restaurants/Bars  with Theme nights and  serving Goan, Mexican, Indian  Chinese & Barbeque dishes.

Accommodation: 135 Air Conditioned rooms have 1 Double or 2 single beds (some have 3rd bed or sofa bed) living area, satellite TV telephone, shower room and balcony.

All Inclusive Features: Meals & Snacks, Unlimited soft and Alcholic Drinks 11am -11 pm (exluding Premium and International brands) mini bar with soft drinks and mineral water, local wine and beer (re-stocked on arrival and once more per week. Sports: gym, table tennis, waterpolo.
Entertainment: Nightly evening entertainment usually includes live music, folklore shows and variety shows.

A traditional and friendly property situated close to the beach. It would suit those looking for basic accommodation in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere.
Location: Situated in Baga on the North Coast of Goa. The hotel is approximately 200m from Baga Beach. 100m to nearest bars/restaurants - main nightlife 100m away.Approximately 120 mins.  from the airport.

Facilities: The hotel's facilities include a swimming pool, terraces with sunloungers and parasols, whirlpool. Restaurant, bar, pool bar mini market. Samll reception money exchange facilities. Evening entertainment includes occasional live music.

Accommodation: The hotel, set out in an apartment-style manner, consists of 47 rooms.  Some rooms have a balcony/terrace and available at a supplement. Each room has a full bathroom and a ceiling fan.  Air-Conditioned rooms have 2 beds, individually controlled.

Opinion: Located in North Goa offering good value for money.
