SCUBA DIVING IN GOA:

The Arabian Sea is home to a plethora ofmarine life from the fascinating barracudas and moray eels, to the vibrantly coloured parrot and trigger fish. As well as reef dives, Goa has a number of wrecks off its coasts including Portuguese Galleons and World War II battleships making this a most exciting dive site. Sally Intercontinental Travel wishes to introduce to you the more undertaking of our clients to this breathtaking and phenomenal underwater odessey, and can do so by pre-booking dive packages that provide for the novice and expert alike.

DIVE SITES - Local Dive Sites (October to April)

1. Grande Island:

Local diving is conducted around Grande Island, which is a 15 min boat-ride from Bogmalo Beach.
Depth ranges from 8 to 15m with an average visibility of 7m. Marine-life is abundant, especially around
the wrecks of late 19th century steamships lying close to the island.

2. Pigeon Island (October to April)

Pigeon Island offers unspoilt dive sites between 6 and 30m deep and excellent visibility up to 30m.
The marine life is more abundant and varied to that found on our local dive sites. A variety of turtles,
sharks, rays, tuna and large barracuda are regularly seen around the island. Pigeon Island is the underwater photographer’s paradise. The island is located south of Bogmalo
and is dived as an overnight excursion.

2. Agatti Island (All year)

Part of the Lakshadweep Archipelago, Agatti is a small (2.7 sq km) coral island, surrounded by a pristine reef.

The living coral is inhabited by an astounding variety of marine life, including turtles and reef-sharks.

The surrounding lagoon offers ideal conditions for scuba-training and presents a myriad of fishes and coral outcrops for snorkellers and divers alike.

A short swim or boat-ride from the beach takes us out over the reef where divers can enjoy the coral slopes and drop-offs in visibility often exceeding 30m.

THE DIVE SCHOOL: (GOA  -)  -  (MALDIVES-  click here)

The Goa Diving School which is a secure dive school offering PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) identify courses, supervised and directed dives and introductory dives. If you are aged 12or more you can join Goa Diving for either an introductory dive or a full Open Water Dive Course with an internationally identified certificate.

The Goa Dive School is located in Bogmalo.  For ease of access to the dive school, those wishing to take part in any scuba activity should opt to stay at the Bogmalo Beach Resort.  Although you may stay at the Bogmalo Beach Resort.  Although you please bear in mind that you will have to make your own way to and from the dive school in Bogmalo.

INTRODUCTORY DIVES -Approx. £39

• After an academic introduction you will spend time in the swimming pool learning to breathe and swim underwater with scuba equipment.
• Client(s) will then dive in shallow water on either a shipwreck or coral bed.

Duration: 3-5 days depends on individuals capabilities Location: Goa Diving training centre and Open Water dive sites. This is a 5 module training course, course consists of three components:

• ACADEMIC Easy to follow classroom presentations
• POOL Basic diving skills learnt whilst learning how to use scuba equipment in safe pool environment
• OPEN WATER Four seperate sea dives, conducted during which each student is required to demonstrate the skills learned during pool training

Pre-bookable diving is available for all guests staying at Fun Island, Paradise Island, Giravaru Island or Meedhupparu Island.  All dives are arranfed through established diving schools offering PADI recognised courses and dives.

All qualified divers must undergo a check dive in confined water before they can progress to the boat dives.  This check usually carries a chrge by the dive school but Sally Travel guests who pre-book a package of dives at the Paradise Island and Fun Island dive School will undertake the check dive free of charge.  Dive prices
